What are the concequences of being marked? What qualifies a person to be marked? Who determines whom shall be marked? How does word get around? Are the elders allowed to tell thier wives? Can the marking be lifted? How do you know if you are marked or maybe people just don't like you or everyone in your congregation is just unfriendly? Anything you can tell me about this enegmatic thing would be appreciated. Thank you!

Borean, what is your purpose for bieng here? You stated that you are a free-thinking JW. That means that you have more than one foot out the Kingdom Hall door. Conventions warn against "the snare of independent thinking", and KMs warn against the dangers of the internet, especially chat-rooms. I've heard of examples of "faithful brothers" who "studdied themselves right out of the truth". If you want to remain a JW you should leave this forum and forget you were ever here and keep your eyes glued to your sanitized-for-your-consumption Watchtowers and Awakes. I at one time thought I was ok to have my own ideas. I found out that's only true to a very limited degree. I left the WTBS to gain a broader perspective of christianity. There is no one answer. The bible is not literal. It was written to explain spiritual, non-tangable ideas to physical beings. Like explaining color to a person born blind. We cannot fully grasp many of the concepts discussed in the bible. I come here to discuss my family situation (made difficult by leaving the orginazation) with others is similiar circumstances and see how they deal with it. Why are you here? In another one of your posts you stated the same excuse used by every JW "they are imperfect men". Aren't all churches made of imperfect men? What makes JWs any better or any different?

Oh, and if I wanted to prove that the world is round. I wouldn't go to the Bible, I'd probably find a book on physics or something. By the way "scripture after scripture" says that the world is round? How about some references.

All churches have flaws, that's ok with me. Other churches that I have visited do not dwell on the faults of other religions, they have respect for other people's points of view. All that I hear form JWs is "who else doesn't accept homosexuals, Look at the catholics with their pedophile preists, Hitler's Pope, all Baptists want is your money." Never have I heard another church bash other religions like the JWs do. Why is it that if I don't agree with every word printed in the Watchtower, and I voice my opinion my friends will not be allowed to talk to me? That tells me that JWs think their way is the only right way, they have all the right answers.

Ok Borean, let me guess. You ask these questions so that you can see the variety of answers and opinions that you recieve. Then you can reveal the "truth" to us all by simply extracting a sentence or fragments of sentences from your Bible. You can easily put to rest the questions that man has pondered since the dawn of time. Go ahead, tell us your answers, blow our minds.

I choose to think most of you would rather believe that every JW should know everything about every subject. The reality is, we don't. Of course, how couldn't we if "We are enlightened by Jehovah!"
OK, you admit that you don't know everything. Thats fine you don't have to know everything. The problem is the attitude that "everybodyelse is wrong, so that makes us less un-right than anybody else". If you don't know everything maybe somebody has the answers that you don't. For JWs there is only one right answer and only one place to look for information, and that is the Watchtower Library, the only publications not contaminated by Satan.

TWO DUMB QUESTIONS.......PLUS, ADD YOUR OWN DUMB QUESTIONS
by Warlock inwhen you eat crackers, do you lay them out salt side up, or salt side down?
do you put them in your mouth salt side up, or salt side down?.
are there any other dumb questions you can think of, to post on this thread?.

Peanutbutter goes on one slice of bread, jelly goes on the other slice. Then you put them together. To make a PB&J sandwich any other way is just disgusting!
Salt goes up all the time. (Or sugar, if it happens to be a graham cracker)
Toiletpaper, I don't care which way it faces.
Which direction do you eat your sandwich? From the rounded top crust first, or the flat bottom crust first. Flat crust first, always

Tom Cruise - He left scientology for WHAT!
Angelina Jolie - Maybe she'll do something about humanitarian aid.
Natalie Portman - Appeals to youth but stays out of trouble.
David Letterman - To lighten things up a bit
Regis - Could be the "face" of the New Watchtower.Wide appeal over many age groups. People trust him, lovable goofball.
Wilford Brimley - Reflects attitude of Old Watchtower so as not to alienate older core believers
George Clooney - Appeals to middle aged housewives. People think he's smart

Censored Matrix
by LtCmd.Lore inhey, i want to watch the matrix with my jw family... but it's rated r, so obviously that ain't gonna happen.. i heard somewhere that there is a 'made for tv' version that is equivilant to pg13, i think my family would be okay with that.. does anyone know about this?
or is just a myth invented by dubs who don't want people to know that they watched an r movie?.

The rumour that I heard was that when it was first released in the spring of 1999, The Matrix was rated PG-13. Several weeks later they changed the rating to R because of similiarties the movie shared with the Columbine school shootings that had just happened. I don't know if this is true, but I believed it. I couldn't find anything to confirm this, but I didn't really look that hard.
